S.Korea,US baby

I am so interested in hearing the other side of the story ,i have been listening to how the Americans came to help South Korea 52 years ago fight the war against North Korea.I understand from the hearsay that if it was not for the Americans who came to help ,the South Koreans could have been defeated .The help from the Americans never stopped ,they opted to stay and built camps and bases in South Korea as well as helping her to have a better economy in the world up to this day .

What i don't understand is why do the South Koreans after all this hate the Americans probably the same way the North does ?I lived in South Korea for three years and during this time i tried to ask so can understand where the US went wrong that made the people of South Korea hate them to a point where they cannot move around in the city or elsewhere alone ,they move in groups because from time to time they get attacked by the locals, they really hate Americans.Once they know you're an American they wont entertain your presence. After the 9-11 attacks you could see the locals celebrate and sharing the videos on their cell phones ,it was a bit strange and still is coz up to this day the security of that country is in the hands of the US, they brought that country up .we used to call it the US baby.

Can somebody out there tell me where or what did the US do to the South Koreans that created this hatred ?or maybe we can find some clues in the ongoing Iraq war of what it may have been like back then that 52 years after still affects the relationship between the people of the two countries .

The answer is so simple as to sound trite.

America hating has become a world sport, the main reason is because we stick our noses in places where we should not.

The other reasons is our wealth, our low middle class live like kings and queens do from other countries, our "poor" has a car, one or two t.v.'s a cell phone, food and shelter. Jealousy in a nutshell.

Jealousy in a nutshell.

Yep, that's what I'd go with.

We are talking of South Korea, they live the same way you do Americans coz you taught them and empowered them economically.Kids there go to school with cell phones and traffic is just a nightmare coz almost everyone who works drives own car.

No,there should be something more than jealousy.

I think it's probably the US' consistently hostile approaches to North Korea. South Korea knows that eventually the North will fail and it will merge with the South. They accept that and are prepared to wait it out so that the chances of war or unnecessary conflict is minimised. The US thinks it has to happen now and will do everything short of launching the first strike to make the North fall asap.

It's a difference in approach. The South views the US approach as hostile - after all, when war begins it'll be South Korean cilivians that bears the brunt of the combined NK artillery, not Washington. The US losses will be more or less exclusively military.

So naturally there will be a tension between the US, who cannot understand SK reticience, and the South Koreans, who cannot understand why the US wants so many southerners to die.

You really Don't know? i will take your word for it. And here is your answer almost word for word from a comment i wrote on another Blog about Iraq ( i dont know how many times do i have to repeat it): OCCUPATION BY FOREIGN ARMIES.

"NO HUMAN WILL EVER "NOT HATE" AN OCCUPATION OF HIS LAND BY A FOREIGNER.

why is it so difficult to understand that? WE AMERICANS DID NOT LIKE TO BE OCCUPIED. Did we? WE revolted and so will every other people of any country. Giving them money, hi-tech economy, democracy, THE WHOLE world even, still they will hate the occupier. Like slavery, no matter how nice he is treated, the slave will never accept it and will always hate his master. It is called human dignity my friend.

I am sure you heard "Give me Liberty or give me Death". It is a fact, real and living fact. Anyone ignores it to their own peril.

It is simple, obvious, clear, natural, expected, no brainer.

USA has become an empire, a world policeman, imposing its values on the rest of the world with the smug satifaction of thinking that it knows what is best for the rest of the world.
